ALRI-Timberland-02863 Project
The project is a collaboration between the Art League of Rhode Island, the Timberland Boot Company, and the Central Falls High School in Rhode Island, to promote arts in the public high schools.
The Art League is providing the coordination and mentoring artists to work with the Arts and Technology Department of Central Falls High School to bring the boot project to the students. Six notable artists from the Art League will be working with the students on the project.
Timberland has given Stock Number 10061 Timberland boots in sufficient quantity that each student in the project will get to paint his or her own pair of boots. They have also generously underwritten the costs of the materials to paint the boots.
The Central Falls High School Art and Technology Department will be working with the artists and the students to created painted boots that will be wearable works of art.
The collaboration was recently extended to include students from Roger Williams University.
The project concludes with a grand celebration at the Providence Art Club, Providence, RI on Friday, December 14th, 2007. At this celebration, Dan Butterworth, the renowned puppeteer, will be inaugurating a new show to celebrate the student accomplishments.
